Falstaff

We're thrilled to announce our return to live music this Summer with a new, outdoor production of Verdi's rambunctious comedy, Falstaff , directed and designed by world-renowned Sir David McVicar. Following almost a year without live opera, this will be a love letter to our glorious art form, promising an evening of comedy, pathos and pure entertainment.

A co-production with Santa Fe Opera, who also perform outdoors, Falstaff  will be an ambitious production sung by an exceptional cast and conducted by Scottish Opera Music Director Stuart Stratford. Sir David has designed an ingenious show with exquisite Jacobean costumes – to be hand-made by our talented costume makers – a breath-taking set, and props created by artisans from around Scotland.

We have 120 people ready to start building, making and rehearsing – our work progressing in alignment with the Scottish Government timeline for easing restrictions. We're all very excited about returning to doing what we do best.
