Tiny Chef

An animated musical story for Primary 3 & 4 pupils

Welcome to the world's most magical restaurant!

In Autumn 2019, a team of Scottish Opera artists visited four primary schools; Carron, Culross, Armadale and Jordanhill, and worked with over 200 pupils aged between 6 and 11 on a series of workshops that encouraged pupils to learn some basic words and numbers in Mandarin, and introduced them to principals of healthy eating. The workshops were developed in partnership with the Confucius Institute for Scotland's Schools to help children engage with the topics in a fun and creative way.

Over several weeks, the children developed an original story that brings their work together into a magical tale set in a marvellous, moveable restaurant known as The Sūgélán Dragon. The children's musical, artistic and narrative ideas were developed by a composer, librettist and illustrator, and woven into this beautiful digital storybook - Tiny Chef - a day in the life of the most magical of eating emporiums.

We'd love to hear how you get on, and see what you and your pupils get up to, so please send us your photos!
