Congratulations are due to two members of the Scottish Opera family who are recognised in The King’s Birthday Honours this year. Our Chairman, Peter Lawson, who has held this role since 2014, has been awarded a CBE. We are also thrilled that star tenor Nicky Spence, our Scottish Opera Young Company Patron, has been awarded
John Fulljames’ new production of Carmen has stirred audiences and critics alike, playing to packed theatres with 10 performances in Glasgow, Inverness and Aberdeen, and closing its tour with five performances in Edinburgh.
Today (12 May), we unveiled our 2023/24 Season, which includes a UK premiere, a Scottish premiere, a Scottish Opera Young Company double bill, and revivals of some of our most beloved productions. The Season promises to be a celebratory showcase of the power and beauty of opera.
