In March 2023, Scottish Opera presents the Scottish premiere of Puccini’s Il trittico – an epic triptych comprising of three fully staged operas in one extraordinary evening at the theatre. Staging the gritty melodrama of Il tabarro, the heartbreak of Suor Angelica, and the raucous black comedy of Gianni Schicchi in one evening, as Puccini intended, is the pinnacle of our 60th Anniversary Season.

Each of the operas features different characters, different eras and different musical colours, but through the contrasts there is a unity that can only be fully appreciated by experiencing Puccini’s full vision in one glorious night.

A five-star creative team leads this landmark production. Directed by world-renowned Sir David McVicar and conducted by Music Director Stuart Stratford, these performances showcase every ounce of our artisan skills, our passionate musicality and our creative ambition.

Such a major project, at such a complex time, needs backing from Scotland’s community of opera lovers.

Please support this tremendous production by sponsoring one of the three operas, a character, a prop, or your favourite piece of music…
