Costume Trainee

About the role

Contract: Fixed term from Monday 4 September 2023 - Sunday 1 September 2024

Hours: Full time, 39 hours a week

Salary: £22,190 per annum, plus benefits

Scottish Opera’s Costume Department is offering a trainee position to an enthusiastic person with some basic qualifications in theatre costume-making, or some experience of working in theatre wardrobe.

This position is part of our Emerging Artists programme. The successful candidate will receive training from our senior staff, and will gain practical experience in all areas of the company’s costume department: making men’s and women’s costumes in the workroom, costume care and dressing in the theatre wardrobe, costume storage and organisation in our hire department, working with a costume supervisor to create productions.

The contract is based at Scottish Opera’s Production Studios at Edington Street, at the Theatre Royal Glasgow, and on tour with the company.
